At the Dream Center located at SBCC’s Cliff campus, we believe that every student,
regardless of immigration status, deserves the opportunity to pursue their educational
goals and build a better future. Our mission is to support undocumented and mixed
status students at SBCC by providing access to resources, guidance, and a welcoming
community as they navigate challenges related to education, career pathways, and personal
development.

All current undocumented and mixed status students enrolled in noncredit classes are eligble for Dream Center services. Whether you're seeking information on financial aid, college admissions, legal support, dealing with food insecurity or need emotional encouragement, we're here to help you every step of the way.

Aid for Undocumented Students
Undocumented students with AB 540 status qualify for many forms of financial aid, including exemption from nonresident tuition — which means you'll be eligible for in-state tuition and fees — along with Cal Grants, UC grants and scholarships, and private scholarships.

The menu below provides links to essential student services, including food and housing assistance, FAQ, Basic Needs resources for both Credit and Noncredit students, Dream, Rising Scholars, and Pride programs.
Undocumented Students refer to students who do not have legal immigration status.
This can include students who:
• entered the U.S. without inspection (e.g. crossing the border without going through
a port of entry);
• entered with legal status and overstayed their visa;
• are currently in the process of gaining legal status (e.g. the individual’s asylum
application is pending);
• are Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients (valid or expired);
or
• are Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders.
Students who are Mixed Status refer to students who have legal immigration status and qualify for FAFSA, but have contributor(s) (e.g. parents, legal guardians, or spouse) who are undocumented and do not have legal status.
All current undocumented students enrolled in credit and non-credit classes. We understand the unique obstacles you face and are committed to empowering you with the knowledge and tools to succeed at Santa Barbara City College. You belong here, and together, we can break down barriers so you can continue your educational journey.
Credit Campus Basic Needs Website:
Enrolled in traditional college-level courses that count toward a degree, certificate,
or transfer to a four-year university. These students typically follow academic programs
with graded coursework and tuition fees.
Noncredit (School of Extended Learning) Basic Needs:
Enrolled in courses at the School of Extended Learning, which focuses on skill-building,
career development, adult education, and personal enrichment. These courses are usually
free or low-cost and do not count toward a degree. Noncredit classes are offered at
the Wake Campus (Downtown) and Schott Campus (Eastside Santa Barbara).

Filling out the Basic Needs Intake Form helps us understand your specific needs, determine
the resources you qualify for, and connect you with the right support services. Completing
this form may allow you to access assistance with the resources listed below:
Housing Support: Guidance on housing programs, emergency shelters, and rental assistance.
Food Assistance: Access to food resources, CalFresh, meal programs, and grocery support.
Financial /Resource Support: Basic Needs Microgrant and other financial assistance.
Application assistance: Help with applications for CalWorks, Medi-Cal, CalFresh, and other student services
This form does not gaurantee services, but it allows us to assess your situation,
determine what services you may qualify for, and provide you with the best possible
support. The sooner you submit it, the sooner we can help!
